The European Hydrogen Research & Innovation Days 2025 provided a great opportunity to learn more about the Clean Hydrogen Partnership’s achievements over the past 17 years of existence. On 24 and 25 November, over 200 stakeholders gathered in Brussels to exchange on CHJU projects along the hydrogen value chain, as well as policy developments in light of the upcoming EU Multiannual Financial Framework. A particular focus was placed on regional collaboration through Hydrogen Valleys. During the closing session, “Driving Competitiveness through Innovation and Working in Partnership,” moderated by Valerie Bouillon-Delporte (Executive Director, Clean Hydrogen Partnership), four panellists – Beatrice Coda (Head of Unit, DG RTD, European Commission), Luigi Crema (President of Hydrogen Europe Research), Sebastian Boden (Vice President of Hydrogen Energy Partnerships Europe, Air Liquide), and Dr. Nadine May (Chair IWG Hydrogen) – reflected on the results of the conference, future challenges for the European leadership, and the relevance of hydrogen R&I for enhancing Europe’s competitiveness. Dr. May specifically referenced the potential for the new SET Plan governance to affect research efforts, saying, “The new SET Plan governance offers the opportunity to strengthen hydrogen R&I collaborations in Europe.”
